Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club members Dylan Davenport and Ella Greatbatch help Hertfordshire come ninth in Division Two at Swim England National County Team Championships

Dylan Davenport and Ella Greatbatch helped Hertfordshire achieve their highest position in the Swim England National County Team Championships for five years.

The Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club members were part of the squad that finished ninth out of 18 in Division Two at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

The result - their best since 2019 - meant Herts easily avoided relegation and will compete in the same tier next year.

Davenport, 15, was part of the open/male 14-15 200m medley relay team that came fourth.

And 16-year-old Greatbatch secured a top-eight finish in the female 16-17 100m breaststroke.

The Stortford pair competed alongside 25 Herts team-mates from clubs including Hatfield, City of St Albans, Cheshunt and Watford.

The event saw more than 900 athletes from across England, Scotland and Wales battle it out, with races taking place in two pools simultaneously.
