Bishop’s Stortford Running Club members take part in Sandringham 10k and Black Bull 15-Mile Trail Run




Gary Jones led the Bishop’s Stortford Running Club contingent home in 49min 16sec at the challenging Sandringham 10k.

He was followed by Serena Beresford and Danny Beazley in north Norfolk as they finished together in 49.36 to achieve the former’s target of going under 50 minutes.

Ian Rodgers went under the hour mark with 59.21 while Fay Dodgen (1hr 23sec) and Stuart Davenport (1:00.40), who was taking part in his second 10k since cancer surgery, were close behind.

Clare Gallagher (1:02.59), Vicki Cutler (1:03.36), Jenny Frewin (1:03.59) and Theresa Burke (1:16.53) completed team green and gold’s results.

Half a dozen Stortford runners joined forces to take part in the Chariots of Fire relay race in Cambridge.

Each leg was approximately 2.7km around the centre of the city and the team’s combined time was 1:32.48.

Stuart Longley was fastest for BSRC in 12.10 alongside team-mates Feridun Kadir (13.16), Abigail White (15.45), Simon Dewhurst (15.52), Hannah Prince (16.55) and Justine Hiluk (18.50).

Matthew Coaker, Matt Ironside, Joanna Jurd and Simon Judkins headed into Essex for the Black Bull 15-Mile Trail Run, named after the pub near Chelmsford which marks the start and finish.

The quartet had a great time running the race together as a relaxed social run and they finished in 2:09.20.

The time was sufficient for Jurd to secure second female while the three men shared third place in the male race.

Ella Weatherburn completed her first half marathon at Aintree, finishing the four laps of the perimeter of the racecourse in 2:46.30.

Simon Nicholson clocked 1:44.29 to take five minutes off his personal best at the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham.

He ran the race in honour of his nephew Freddie, who is affected by a rare condition known as Angelman Syndrome.

And Michelle Bignall journeyed to Windsor for her first half marathon since recovering from an injury and crossed the line in 2:09.20.
