Bishop's Stortford captain Sam Winter set to miss Rotherham Titans game through injury

By Michael Vaughton

Bishop’s Stortford are set to be without their captain Sam Winter when they host Rotherham Titans in National League 1 this Saturday (Dec 8, 3pm).

The skipper picked up a potential ankle ligament injury in the weekend home defeat to leaders Blackheath. The referee stopped play for the injury and then awarded a penalty at the restart scrum, which was slotted over to condemn the hosts to a 16-15 defeat.

Rotherham, who were comprehensively relegated from the Championship last season, come to Silver Leys sitting fifth in the table after back-to-back wins, while Stortford are now second from bottom.

“We’ve got to stay positive and keep working on our processes,” said director of rugby Andy Long. “We’ve got to trust the system and hope that things will turn.

“Rotherham will be buoyed by a decent result over Cinderford. The boys have got to have bucketloads of energy and have plenty of understanding of how we can beat these guys.”
