Kirsty Neill is getting ready for some huge events after producing a medal-winning display in Level X Racing.

Now that competitive action has resumed, the Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club member is preparing to race in the Winter Regional Championships next month and in the Winter Nationals in early December.

And Neill showed her prowess in the Level X series – created in 2020 by Swim England to allow athletes to race in a fun environment while waiting for the full easing of Covid restrictions – as she recorded a national-best time in the 200m breaststroke.

She clocked 2min 39.29sec to set the fastest time in Britain in her 14-year-old age group and bag a medal.

The prowess of Neill and three other 13- to 14-year-old Stortford swimmers – Ella Greatbatch, George Grimwood and Alice Longman – has been noticed by Swim England as they have all been invited to participate in its National Development Programme.

The programme provides activities to help enhance the training environment, so that swimmers who show performance potential have continued support on their journeys.
