Bishop's Stortford began their National Arena Swimming League promotion push with an emphatic win in the first round.
They achieved top-three finishes in 31 of the 34 individual events – with 16 victories – along with six first- and two second-place finishes in the relays.
The swimmers in the 16-and-over category dominated the field as they won all of their events and helped their team come top of the pile with 217 points, 44 ahead of their nearest rivals.
It was a great start to the competition for Stortford as they attempt to bounce back up to the Premier Division having had to re-enter in Division Two after being forced to withdraw post-Covid.
The first round of three in the London League took place at the Hertfordshire Sports Village and Stortford were up against Harpenden, Hertford, Hillingdon C, Hoddesdon and Saxon Crown.
Topping the podium for Stortford were: 10/11 years – Lois Fields (50m backstroke); 13/under – Molly Greatbatch (100m breaststroke); 15/under – Alice Longman (100m freestyle), Ella Greatbatch (100m breaststroke), Jacob Hayes (100m backstroke), Kirsty Neill (100m butterfly); 16/over – Alex Catton (100m backstroke), Callum Cox (100m freestyle), Callum Davis (100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly), Emma Fields (100m butterfly), Laura Burgess (100m freestyle), Lauren Gore (100m breaststroke), Niamh James (200m IM and 100m backstroke), Jake Lloyd (200m IM).
