Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club youngster Summer Miller wins silver medal at Swim England Hertfordshire County Championships




Summer Miller secured a silver medal when this year’s Swim England Hertfordshire County Championships got under way.

The 12-year-old Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club member came second in her age group in the 800m freestyle.

She also took 37 seconds off her entry time as she stopped the clock at 10min 20.19sec at the Westminster Lodge pool in St Albans.

The 800m freestyle took centre stage for the opening round of the competition and Noah Conroy, who was also in the 10-14 age section, bettered his entry time by a massive 40 seconds.

Also in action for Stortford - all in the 15 and over age group - were Samuel Bird, Bobbie Macdonald-Williams, Brandon Macdonald-Williams and Oliver Tom.

The competition takes place over four weekends as swimmers from clubs across Herts battle it out across a mix of individual races and age-group team relays.

Sixty Stortford swimmers qualified for this year’s championship, which is a significant increase on last year’s 43 and the highest number in recent years.
