SWAN Netball Club's under-14s are getting ready to test themselves against the best teams in the country at the National Club Finals.

The team came through two rounds of fixtures against the top sides in the eastern region to qualify for the tournament, which takes place at the Sheffield Institute of Sport this weekend (May 28-29).

Getting to the national stage means they are already ranked as one of the top 18 teams in the country.

It is the latest bit of good news for the club after 33 of their players were selected for the England Netball Performance Pathway either as part of Cambridgeshire or Essex U13 and U15 county academies or franchise academies with Saracens Mavericks or London Pulse.

And there was also huge success at the Cambridgeshire Junior Development Tournament where U16 Orange, U14 Black and U12 Black were all winners, U16 Black were runners-up and the Cambridgeshire Junior Development League trophy was awarded to U13 Black for their success in the U14 Winter Division.

"After two years of disrupted netball, training over Zoom and match restrictions, it has been fabulous to get back to a full season of competition and we are very proud of what our teams and individual players have achieved this year," said Julia Kay, head coach at the club which holds training sessions in Bishop's Stortford and Stansted as well as Saffron Walden.
