Bishop’s Stortford Cricket Club under-11 girls beat Hitchin by 202 runs
Bishop’s Stortford’s under-11 girls maintained their fine form with a 202-run victory over Hitchin.
The league leaders restricted their opponents to just 35 runs and dismissed them 11 times for a net score of 180.
The wickets were shared around, with the best figures being claimed by Annabel Tulloch (3-3).
Stortford scored a huge 192 for the loss of two wickets in reply as they registered a net score of 382, with excellent contributions from the likes of Esme Maxwell (36), Amelie Bennett (23) and Charlotte Cass (19).
The under-13 girls won a thrilling contest against Berkhamsted at Cricketfield Lane.
They bowled their opponents out for a challenging 150 as Maddie Alder took 3-2, Isla Mitchell and Emmy Pickford both claimed 2-21 and the miserly Libby Hughes got 1-8.
Openers Vaibhavi Dudeja (30) and Betsy Gibson (33), who both retired not out, gave Stortford a flying start in reply before they lost three wickets for 11 runs.
But Alder (16no) and Pickford (21no) got their side across the winning line with two balls to spare after they needed 13 runs from the last two overs.
The under-15 girls played well against Harpenden, but their 114-6 from 20 overs was not enough against strong opponents.
Grace Gladen hit 30 and Mattie Hughes made 24 before the opposition chased down the total in 18 overs.
Encouraging for the future was the performances of 13-year-olds Isla Bennett (2-24) and Elsie Heard (2-26).
The under-nine girls lost to Hertford as they lost too many wickets in their net score of 274, compared to their opponents’ 321.
