Olly Miles hits hat-trick as Takeley beat derby rivals Stansted 4-1 in Essex Senior League, Premier Division
Olly Miles hit a hat-trick as Takeley came from behind to beat derby rivals Stansted 4-1 at home in the Essex Senior League, Premier Division on Saturday (January 18).
The third-placed hosts are three points adrift of leaders Stanway Rovers having played a game more while the visitors sit second from bottom.
Callum Fitzer put the Airport Army ahead with only five minutes played when he netted from close range at the back post.
Miles levelled matters by getting in front of defenders to head home from a corner and then put his title-chasing side ahead by poking in from inside the six-yard box.
The pressure remained relentless as half time approached and Jack Mitchell extended Takeley’s lead by brilliantly chipping goalkeeper Luis Shamshoum from outside the box.
Miles completed his treble after the restart with another headed goal before Dion Johnson was denied by the post.
And Stansted shot-stopper Shamshoum made a double save to prevent Takeley winning by an even greater margin.
