The hosts battled back and netted twice, but Takeley, who are four points behind leaders Stanway Rovers, held on.

Third-from-bottom Sawbridgeworth Town saw three points slip away at the death as they lost 2-1 at Athletic Newham.

Austen Garrod put them ahead just before the hour, but Leonardo Luis De Carvalho Pedro struck in the 90th minute and the fifth minute of added time to win it for the hosts.

Stansted, who are second from bottom, went down 3-0 at Romford.
