John Hedges beat Frane Radnic on his international debut to maintain the unbeaten start to his professional career.

The 19-year-old Takeley fighter made it three wins out of three by overcoming the 37-year-old Croatian at the W├Ârthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria, last Friday night.

The light-heavyweight contest, on the undercard of the Filip Hrgovic versus Marko Radonjic IBF heavyweight championship bout, was Hedges' first abroad and his first over six rounds.

The 6ft 5in southpaw, who went to Forest Hall School in Stansted, outboxed his rival as all three judges scored it 60-54 in his favour.

"I was very pleased with my performance as it was a shut-out victory and every judge scored it as unanimous, but there's always room for improvement and every fight is a learning experience," said Hedges, who is hoping for another fight before the end of the year.

"I'm slowly building up my strength in the gym, but I'm not putting pressure on myself to be knocking people out as I'm young and still awaiting my man strength, which will come with age."
