Real Stortford under-18 Stars still in the treble hunt

Real Stortford under-18 Stars took a giant stride towards securing the Mid-Herts League, Premier Division title by claiming the derby bragging rights.

The 4-0 victory over Bishop’s Stortford Community Football Club under-18 United means they only need one more point to bag the crown.

And Stars are preparing for a busy end to the campaign as they are also in two major cup finals next month.

Stars found themselves 2-0 up inside the opening 15 minutes as they made a cracking start to the Easter weekend. Well-worked set pieces were the source, with Joel Gubb and Matt Kemp converting from Brad Taylor’s and Jack Booker’s deliveries respectively.

Tolu Osiyemi extended the lead after half an hour from the penalty spot.

United played better in the second period, but goalkeeper Will Skingley was rarely troubled.

And Stars wrapped things up late on when Osiyemi made his way down the left and squared the ball for Taylor to side-foot home after a lung-busting run.
