The Bishop's Stortford High School named one of the best sporting schools in the country by School Sport Magazine
The Bishop's Stortford High School has held off competition from more than 4,000 others to be named among the best schools in the country for sport.
It has been ranked No 31 in the 2020 list compiled by School Sport Magazine as well as being in the top 10 for state schools.
The London Road secondary earned praise for its all-round achievements in a very difficult year, which included making The Cricketer Schools Guide for the first time and its under-14 football team winning the national PlayStation FC Schools' Cup.
The annual list is based on performance in 20 sports and more than 120 national competitions. Reaching the top 200 puts TBSHS in the top 5% of sporting schools in the country.
"This has been another remarkable year for competitive sport in schools and The Bishop's Stortford High School deserves its achievement," said School Sport Magazine's publishing editor Phil Tusler.
"Congratulations to the pupils involved and the work of the school's sports department especially.
"The list unashamedly reflects and celebrates competitive achievement in a range of sports and honours those schools that take competition especially seriously."
