Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club's Kirsty Neill won three medals and recorded seven PBs at the Scottish National Age Group Championships in Glasgow
Kirsty Neill won three medals and recorded seven PBs as she enjoyed a storming Scottish National Age Group Championships.
The Bishop’s Stortford Swimming Club member, whose parents are Scottish, also became the fastest 15-year-old in Great Britain in the 200m breaststroke at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow.
Neill began by taking bronze in the 50m breaststroke thanks to a couple of PBs in qualifying and the final.
In the 200m breaststroke – her favourite race – Neill was narrowly beaten into second place in qualifying, but, after a helpful text conversation with coach Mathieu Leroy, who was watching the live stream back in Stortford, she powered to a PB and gold in the final having been two-and-a-half seconds behind the leader at the turn for the last length.
Neill, who was cheered on by her family, then came sixth and fourth in the 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley respectively before claiming silver in the 100m breaststroke.
