Bishop’s Stortford Handball Club’s men’s first team beat Islington III 29-25 to secure top spot in England Handball Regional League South 2 East.

The home victory at the Herts and Essex Sports Centre means they will compete in the play-offs alongside the runners-up and the bottom two in Regional 1.

The top two teams out of those four will then compete in the higher tier next season.

Alex Lyons and Catalin Gauca both scored eight goals while Youssef El Mahjri chipped in with six.

There were braces for David Diogo Robalo and Tsvetomir Ivanov along with one goal apiece for Alfa Bade, Remus Muntean and Balazs Storch.
