Bishop's Stortford Bowling Club is holding an open weekend on April 10-11 for new players to try their hand at the sport.

Qualified coaches will teach people the basics at their excellent facilities in Bowling Lane, off Beldams Lane, in 90-minute sessions.

Woods will be provided – it is advised to arrive early to try sizes – and you must wear flat shoes or trainers. Follow-up coaching will be available to anyone who would then like to join the club.

"Bowls is a sport for all ages and abilities and can be learnt in a very short time," said BSBC captain Derek Hinge. "It's fun, sociable and as competitive as you choose – you can play for exercise or play for England!

"Because of coronavirus regulations it is necessary to control the numbers at the club at any time, but don't let that put you off! We have plenty of space, so book a place now for yourself or your family group."

To book your session, call Hilary Chandler on 01279 658884.
