Bishop’s Stortford under-13 girls triumph at High Roding to advance in national T20 cup
Bishop’s Stortford’s under-13 girls triumphed at High Roding to advance in the national T20 cup competition.
The visitors registered 151-5 after being asked to bat first as Elsie Heard and Elsie Lowe both remained unbeaten on 30.
The hosts were then skittled out for just 68 as Betsy Gibson, Millie Cass, Maddie Alder, Libby Hodges and Isla Evans all took a wicket each and run outs accounted for the other batters.
Stortford, who will visit Chelmsford in the next round, were also away victors when they visited Coggeshall for an Essex league game to underline their title credentials.
They chose to bat first and put a creditable 82-5 on the board from their 16 overs with all batters contributing.
Coggeshall were seemingly cruising as they were more than half way to their total after six overs of the reply, but Nyah Callan (1-3) claimed a prize scalp to change the course of the contest.
And the home team fell behind the rate as the overs ran out and ultimately came up short on 77-6.
Betsy Gibson (2-7), Sophia Vasey (2-1) and Libby Hughes (1-10) were also among the wickets.
