Bishop’s Stortford rugby club’s under-14 girls win Middlesex Emerald International Youth Festival at London Irish
Bishop’s Stortford under-14 girls won six matches out of six to triumph at the Middlesex Emerald International Youth Festival.
The team showcased their skill, determination and teamwork to be crowned champions at the home of London Irish.
They stormed to the top of their pool thanks to victories over the hosts’ Team 2 (35-10), Horsham (40-5) and Ruislip (60-5).
The players began to feel a bit fatigued in the quarter-finals, but they still found another gear to see off the hosts’ Team 1 30-10 in a hard-fought battle.
And they emerged 10-5 winners after a tense semi-final clash against Basingstoke before producing a composed performance to claim a commanding 20-5 success over Ironside in the final.
The players will be attending the club’s awards ceremony on Sunday (May 25) when Lucy Cartman will receive an outstanding achievement award for scoring 59 tries and 38 conversions totalling 371 points this season.
The Stortford team would love to welcome new players for next season. Check www.bsrfc.co.uk for updates about pre-season training.
