Joss Linney and Josh Stannard among those coming in as Bishop's Stortford make six changes for National League 1 showdown with Leeds Tykes

Sam Winter wants Bishop’s Stortford to be positive and play with real energy when they host Leeds Tykes in their “biggest game of the season” on Saturday.

Stortford began 2022 with a 31-17 defeat at Plymouth Albion at the weekend and slipped two places to 13th in National League 1. They have issued a rallying cry ahead of the game to get more fans up at Silver Leys, including reduced entry cost for non-members on presentation of the club's advert in this week's Indie and a ‘happy hour’ from 12-3pm.

The visitors are one place and two points below them, but have a couple of games in hand as both sides look to beat the drop.

“It’s our biggest game of the season,” said captain Winter, who returned to the starting line-up for the first time in over three months at Plymouth after recovering from a fractured arm. “We have to worry about what’s below us now because we’ve got ourselves into this position.

“We need a win and, hopefully, if we can get that it can kickstart us.

“I’m looking for a huge amount of energy and a positive mindset, looking to score tries and doing what we’re good at.”

Joint head coaches Tom Coleman and Marcus Cattell have made six personnel changes to their starting line-up following the defeat in Devon.

Joss Linney and Josh Stannard come in on the wings with Chris Smith moving to the bench and Alex Gilham dropping out.

In the forward pack, Will Roberts and Declan Caulfield get starts at loose-head prop and hooker respectively with Seb Brownhill and Harrison King named among the replacements.

James Thacker (second row) and Alex Rayment (open-side flanker) are brought in for Tom Lewis and Rory Banks, with Jacob Wrafter switching from open-side flanker to No 8.
