Bishop’s Stortford & Epping Taekwon-do got a hat-trick of bronze trophies in the English Championships.

The club took just five students to Worcester and they were up against 1,200 competitors from across the country.

But Stortford made their mark as Michael Barford (black belt patterns), Jackie Fletcher (heavyweight yellow belt sparring) and Suliman Khan (black belt team sparring) all bagged prizes.

Christine Abbott (black belt lightweight sparring and patterns) and Robert Anderson (boys’ middleweight blue belt sparring and patterns) were also in action, with John Anderson and Jackie Taylor on umpire duty.

Instructor Colin Mowatt said: “As there was no executive division this year, a special mention should go to Jackie who was in a division including yellow belt ladies from 16 years and above.

“This followed being awarded best grading at the coloured belt grading the week before.”
