Three Bishop's Stortford Swimming Club members have shown exactly why they have made global top 10 rankings with excellent starts to the season.

Lizzie Bellinger (40-44 years), Sally Winter (60-64) and Alyson Fordham (65-69) are all in the recently-released FINA World Masters top 10 short course rankings.

Herts and Essex High School PE teacher Bellinger is ranked fourth for the 100m butterfly, sixth for 50m butterfly and 10th for 200m individual medley.

Winter is fifth and ninth at 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle respectively while Fordham is fifth in 50m freestyle.

Winter and Fordham also still feature on the FINA all-time top 10 rankings in their age groups, with the former having the ninth and 10th fastest 200m freestyle swims (short course and long course respectively) and the latter holding the eighth fastest short course 100m freestyle swim.

Bellinger and Fordham both competed at the recent Essex Masters Championships as they kicked off 2022 in style.

British and European record holder Bellinger stormed to gold in the 100m butterfly in 1min 8.18sec.

Fordham did even better as she took gold in both the 50m and 200m freestyle in new European record times (30.93sec and 2.34.06) as well as gold in the 400m freestyle with a new British record (5.29.40).

Bellinger also bagged gold in the 50m butterfly plus silver in both the 100m freestyle and 200m IM at the Swim Wales Masters Championships.

And Winter brought home two gold medals from the Calverton and Bingham Masters in Nottinghamshire (50m and 200m freestyle) as she was the third-placed female overall in the 60-64 category.
