Vibhor Yadav's dazzling run of form continued as he led Sawbridgeworth to a 50-run home victory over Langleybury in Saracens Hertfordshire League, Division One on Saturday, writes Richard White.

He recorded his third century in just five league innings as he hit a magnificent 163 out of the hosts' total of 304.

The all-rounder survived two chances as he struck 15 fours and nine sixes in 126 balls to reach 561 league runs, just 118 shy of his tally for the whole of last season.

But his efforts would have been wasted had it not been for the magnificent supporting role played by Steve Ashman as the pair set a new club league record in a fifth-wicket partnership of 181.

They came together at 83-4 with the former skipper contributing a valuable 66 before falling one short of his highest first team league score.

Remarkably, no other Sawbo player reached double figures as the third-highest contribution came from extras (37). Their last six wickets fell for 40 runs as they were bowled out with one ball left of their 50 overs.

The pick of the attack for Langleybury – who were forced to call up 72-year-old Mike Dobner to keep wicket due to injuries and other availability issues – was Simon Ross with 4-30.

Dan Roberts (53) and skipper Ross Channer (56) put on 74 for the fourth wicket before Khalid Manzoor (67 not out) and Sulliman Manzoor (41) added 82 off 52 deliveries to help the visitors reach maximum batting points as they closed on 254-7.

Yadav took 2-32 in his 10 overs and the other five wickets were shared around, which included Hamza Amjad marking his league debut by dismissing Juan Collison with his second delivery.

In contrast, Sawbo II suffered a 114-run defeat at Clifton in Division 5B.

Matthew Jones (4-30) and Alfie Burrell (3-47) impressed with the ball as the hosts were all out for 204.

The visitors were skittled out for 90 in just 23 overs with the only double-figure contributions coming from Brad Oakes (33) and William Jones (19).

Sawbo III moved up to second in Tees Herts & Essex Border League, Division Two with a thrilling 11-run victory over Essendon at Leventhorpe School.

Gagan Bassi (119 not out) scored his maiden league century for the club as the hosts reached 270-7 from their 40 overs with their opening pair of Craig Noonan and Kieran Morgan hitting 42 and 48 respectively.

Essendon replied with 259-5 as Charlie Newman (3-48) and Harry Gale (2-61) were on target, with the latter picking up the key wicket of the visitors' centurion Robert Meekcoms (111).
