Stansted up to fourth in Thurlow Nunn First Division South after 2-0 win at Cannons Wood

Stansted won 2-0 at Cannons Wood to move up to fourth in Thurlow Nunn League, First Division South on Friday night (October 3).

Zac Argent struck twice in as many first-half minutes as the Airport Army claimed their sixth victory in 11 league outings.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men at the death when Joseph Longonda was shown a straight red card.

Takeley, who sit fourth from bottom with eight points from 10 games, went into the contest having won 1-0 at home to Stanway Rovers last Tuesday (September 30) thanks to Joe Pullen’s 47th-minute strike.

Sawbridgeworth Town suffered a 4-1 defeat at Kings Langley in the Spartan South Midlands League, Premier Division on Saturday.

Substitute Josh Darby got a second-half consolation goal for the seventh-placed visitors.

The Robins went into the match on the back of a 3-1 success at Crawley Green last Tuesday when Elijah Grant got a brace, Kieran David also scored and goalkeeper Jimmy Parker saved a penalty.
