Cammas Hall Farm near Bishop’s Stortford opens Pumpkin Patch for Hallowe’en
Cammas Hall kicked off its annual Hallowe’en celebrations with a bang - or, more accurately, an eruption - on Saturday (October 5).
This year’s rumbling Pumpcano at the Hatfield Broad Oak venue is active every 15 minutes during opening hours, billowing smoke and flames high into the air, and is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world.
Visitors to the farm can walk through the centre of the Pumpcano before emerging into a patch displaying more than 20,000 pumpkins representing 75 different varieties.
Amazingly, despite reaching a height of seven metres, the Pumpcano is not the largest structure at the farm this spooky season.
A pumpkin mosaic - crafted with the help of Bishop’s Stortford-based Connect Scaffolding - depicting a ghoulishly good farm scene, complete with tractor, stands a whopping 11 metres tall and 12 metres wide and forms an impressive backdrop to this year’s celebrations.
Before arriving in the patch, visitors can traverse two themed tunnels: the family-friendly Wicked Walkway and the more petrifying Terror Tunnel, which is recommended for those aged 12 and over.
For those who prefer to visit after dark, Resurrected Nights! return with scare actors in the tunnels and live music in the patch. This year’s ‘Dead Legend’ tributes, who will perform on selected evenings from Friday October 18 to Thursday October 31, include George Michael, Prince, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson.
Farmer Jonathan Lukies said: “Customers have high expectations of a visit to us. Each year we strive to exceed them and 2024 is no exception.
I am proud of my dedicated team who have battled the elements to bring together our biggest Hallowe’en offering to date.”
In addition to the Pumpkin Patch, visitors can extend their day out with a visit to the Hallowe’en Maize Maze (wellies recommended!) or take in a show as local production company Pass the Mustard return to the farm with their take on The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
And, as always, there are plenty of seasonal treats to enjoy and the farm shop is stocked high with everything you need to make Hallowe’en a scream.
Pumpkin Patch tickets are priced between £5 and £7 while Resurrected Nights! tickets cost £10.50 for adults and £8 for children. Maize Maze and Jekyll & Hyde show tickets are available for an additional charge - discounts apply when booked in conjunction with Pumpkin Patch tickets.
Cammas Hall Farm is open on selected days/evenings until October 31 and pre-booking is essential. See www.cammashall.co.uk for full details.
