Concert in memory of Keef Jackman at Water Lane United Reformed Church Hall in Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday March 8
One of the co-founders of Bishop’s Stortford Acoustic Club will be remembered at a special fundraising concert on Saturday March 8.
Keef Jackman, who formed the club with Drew Bonnington in 2002, died last year and will be honoured at the gig at the Water Lane United Reformed Church Hall.
Concert for Keef is a collaboration between the acoustic club and Stortford Music Festival - AKA Bish Bash - and will also feature a set by Bishop’s Stortford Ukulele Society and two-song slots from a host of acts.
After Drew took a back seat from the acoustic club, Keef ran it successfully alongside Annie Compton for a decade.
Keef and Annie were also major contributors in building up Stortford Music Festival from small beginnings to becoming a large outdoor event.
As well as founding the ukulele society the pair also put in a huge amount of work to help make WoodFest in Hatfield Forest the great success it became.
Bill Tarran, Pam Johnson, Apache John, Kathy & Steve Ingrey and Ryan Thwaits will be performing two songs, as will Dean Austin, Alice Walker, Tom Ryder & Kimberley Stoker and Clark & Johnson.
The night will finish with sets by Blues Amigos - comprising Mike HappeninBoy, Joe Chipperfield, Grant & Mark Howard and Greg Camburn - Jono and Blues Inc.
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, can be bought for a donation at wegottickets.com/event/646288. The money raised, minus booking fees, will go to Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank and The Essex Music Fund.
There will be a licensed bar, the proceeds of which will go towards the cost of putting on the evening.
