Paintings and drawings focusing on natural history by Bishop's Stortford Art Society membership secretary and webmaster Margery Maskell
A series highlighting the creative talents of members of Bishop's Stortford Art Society. This week: work by membership secretary and webmaster Margery Maskell
Although I am severely deaf, and have been from birth, I achieved two GCE A levels, in art - painting and computer science.
After graduating with a Higher National Diploma in mathematics, statistics and computing, I had a very enjoyable career as a commercial applications (mainframe) programmer and systems analyst.
My first SLR camera was bought in the mid-1970s as a tool for recording images that would then be used to make up the components for my oil and acrylic paintings. Photography then became my main interest, with natural history becoming my preferred subject.
Since retiring, I have been enjoying art again, using subjects from our photographic archives for my paintings and drawings.
I am currently the membership secretary and webmaster at Bishop's Stortford Art Society.
