Amar Devsi and Gabrielle Vickery exhibiting work at South Mill Arts for Herts Visual Arts’ Open Studios
Pieces of abstract art and rich florals in oils and acrylics can be enjoyed at a special exhibition in Bishop’s Stortford this month.
Architect and interior designer Amar Devsi and professional fine artist Gabrielle Vickery are showcasing their work at South Mill Arts until September 29.
The exhibition at the South Road venue is part of Herts Visual Arts’ annual Open Studios event which features more than 100 artists from across the county.
Amar transitioned into abstract art by drawing from his background in design. His work explores the interplay of form, space and colour, creating a dialogue between the artist, artwork and observer.
His abstract pieces aim to evoke emotions, challenge preconceptions, and invite personal interpretations.
Gabrielle, who has an art studio in Stortford, where she teaches beginners how to draw and paint, uses loose, expressive brushstrokes to capture movement and life.
She finds magic in painting portraits, particularly in capturing expressions.
The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 8pm and visitors can also meet the artists on certain days, with Gabrielle hosting a beginners’ painting class on Saturday September 28 from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Places for the class must be booked in advance at www.thearthouseoasis.com.
You can meet Gabrielle upstairs in the ArtSpace on Saturday September 21 and Tuesday September 24 between 10am and noon.
Amar will be talking to visitors in the ArtSpace on Thursday (Sept 12) between 4.15pm and 5.30pm, on Saturday 14 (11am-1pm), Monday 16, Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 (all 4.15pm-5.30pm), Saturday 21 (11am-1pm), Monday 23, Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 (all 4.15pm-5.30pm) and Saturday 28 (11am-1pm).
