Bishop’s Stortford’s Belly Belles join Angela Rippon’s Let’s Dance campaign
Bishop’s Stortford’s Belly Belles are joining the national Let’s Dance campaign spearheaded by TV’s Angela Rippon, the oldest ever contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
On Sunday March 2 from 6pm to 7pm at Havers Community Centre, the troupe will host demonstrations and taster sessions of belly dance, Bollywood fitness and seated exercise to music for just £1.
Debbie Moulsdale – and her alter ego, Samirah – have been teaching dance and fitness for 19 years.
She said: “I’ve seen first-hand the benefits of joining a dance/movement class. Not only is it good for physical strength and fitness, it’s also a wonderful stress buster and works out the brain too. We have lots of laughs and giggles in class, and long-lasting friendships have been made.
“Let’s Dance is a fantastic initiative spearheaded by Angela Rippon. Her journey on Strictly Come Dancing highlighted to her the incredible benefits of regular dancing, and now she’s on a mission to get the whole nation dancing!
“This campaign is all about making dance accessible to everyone, with a focus on encouraging people to embrace the joy and health benefits of dancing. We know the more we dance the better we’ll all be – as individuals and as a society.”
Angela Rippon turned 79 when she was taking part in the 2023 series of Strictly, in which she was paired with professional dancer Kai Widdrington. They were the eighth of the 15 pairs to be eliminated.
