Bishop’s Stortford’s Cantate Youth Choir appeals for more members

Cantate Youth Choir, founded more than 30 years ago in Bishop’s Stortford, is appealing for new members.

The registered charity wants recruits for its junior (age six to 11) and senior (age 11 to 18) sections.

A spokesperson said: “Does your child love to sing? Do they dream of performing exciting music in a fun and supportive environment?

“With no auditions required, every child has the chance to develop their voice, build confidence, and experience the magic of making music together.

“More than just a choir, Cantate is a community where children and teenagers can grow as musicians, make lifelong friendships, and perform in thrilling concerts.”

Since it was founded in 1994, the choir has performed at world-famous venues such as Abbey Road Studios, entertained thousands at Twickenham, and won gold at the World Choir Games.

Youngsters get expert tuition from top musicians and vocal coaches and the chance to perform in a concert each term, singing a diverse repertoire from classical to pop, folk to musical theatre.

The Junior Choir (Years 3 to 6) meets on Sundays from 2pm to 3.45pm, and the seniors (Year 7-plus) sing from 3.45pm to 6pm at Summercroft Primary School.

The spokesperson said: “We are looking for new voices to join us—whether your child is a confident performer or just loves to sing at home, Cantate is the perfect place to nurture their talent!”
