Celebrating Bishop's Stortford's market days

Two events have been organised this week to promote market days in Bishop's Stortford.

Today (Thursday), market traders will be handing out special giveaways to customers, while on Saturday, there will be a family fun day from 9am featuring a face painter, an entertainer, giveaways, recipe cards and children’s trails.

The events have been organised by Bishop’s Stortford Town Council as part of national campaign Love Your Local Market. Stortford developed as a market town throughout the 1200s, which led to a growth in its population and prosperity.

Rosanna Zaffuto, the town council’s events and tourism manager, said: “Market traders are the heart, life and soul of any market and are at the centre of the campaign. We want to show the very best we have to offer and remind everyone how great our market is.”

She added: “Throughout the two-day event, our traders will be organising something very special, but you will have to visit the market to find out what.”
