Jason Manford headlines East Herts' Just the Tonic Comedy Shindig




Just the Tonic Comedy Shindig, headlined by Jason Manford, comes to East Herts this Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

The bill at Hillside Farm, Great Amwell, also includes Henham resident Ed Byrne, Milton Jones, Reginald D Hunter, Angela Barnes, Phil Nichol, Ivan Brackenbury and Lloyd Griffith.

They will take to the stage on Sunday (June 5) following three days of music at the Pepper Hill venue, courtesy of the Stone Valley South festival.

Jason Manford began his career at the Buzz Comedy Club in Machester. Then 17, he was collecting glasses but stepped on stage to fill a gap in an evening set and never looked back.

He was nominated for the Perrier Award in Edinburgh in 2005 for his show Urban Legends and has become a regular on television with credits including team captain on Channel 4's 8 out of 10 Cats.

He has presented Sky Three's Premier League Allstars Extra Time, Channel 4's Tonightly, BBC's Would I Lie to You, become a regular on ITV1's Odd One In with Peter Andre and given his voice to BBC's Walk on the Wild Side.

Ed Byrne, also a Perrier Award nominee, started his stand-up career as a student at Strathclyde University, Glasgow.

Since then he has toured the world with his live shows and appeared on or presented a range of shows on BBC radio, including The Unbelievable Truth and What's So Funny. He is also a regular panellist on shows like Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, and has appeared on The Graham Norton Show.

Milton Jones appears regularly on BBC's Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Live at the Apollo and he has headlined Dave's One Night Stand.

He is a previous Perrier Best Newcomer, Sony Award winner and British Comedy Award nominee.

American Reginald D Hunter reached the final of So You Think You Are Funny in 1998 during his first visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

His TV appearances have included Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You? He also filmed two series of the BBC2's Reginald D Hunter's Songs Of The South and Reginald D Hunter's Songs of The Border.

Phil Nichol is a stage, film and television actor and also artistic director of Comedians' Theatre Company, as well as a stand-up comedian who won the prestigious Perrier Award in 2006.

Angela Barnes clinched the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has appeared on BBC's Live At The Apollo, Mock the Week, Newsjack, The News Quiz, The Now Show and Russell Howard's Good News.

Tom Binns will be appearing as his alter-ego, hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury, which has won him a clutch of awards and his television credits include Spooks, The IT Crowd, The Jason Byrne Show and Knowing Me Knowing Yule with Alan Partridge.

Lloyd Griffith is a comedian, actor, presenter and classically trained singer who has featured in BBC's House of Games and Not Going Out plus Jonathan Ross' Comedy Club on ITV.

He also presented a documentary on BBC called Can You Beat The Bookies? and is co-host of Soccer AM on Sky Sports.
