Drop-in Textile Transformations sessions with Alice Burnhope at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens this half term
An award-winning textile artist is hosting a family-friendly workshop at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens for people of all ages this half term.
Alice Burnhope, who specialises in interactive and socially-engaged work, will be holding two drop-in Textile Transformations sessions at the Perry Green venue on Saturday November 2.
Visitors will be able to create textile wall hangings inspired by sculpture and nature.
Guests will go outdoors with naturally-dyed fabrics in earthy tones of gold, brown and green and use natural surfaces and textures to create rubbings that capture the essence of the sculpture gardens.
Then, back inside, templates of sculptural and natural shapes will be used to stitch and glue the textiles into wall hangings to take home.
Burnhope creates immersive textile installations which have been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the UK and internationally in institutions such as Arthouse Jersey, Hayward Gallery and Alexandra Palace.
She facilitates a host of creative workshops for prestigious clients such as Buckingham Palace, the Royal Horticultural Society and Now Gallery.
The drop-in sessions take place from 11.30am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 3pm. Entry is included in an annual ticket.
There will also be a chance to help with bluebell planting on Sunday November 3, any time between 11.30am and 3pm, as the team attempt to plant 10,000 bulbs.
The event, which is included in an annual ticket, is suitable for gardeners of all ages. If you have a trowel, kneeler or gardening gloves, take them along.
