Drag king LoUis CYfer to perform at South Mill Arts for Pride Weekend in Bishop's Stortford
Drag king extraordinaire LoUis CYfer will get the upcoming Pride Weekend in Bishop's Stortford off to a hilarious start at South Mill Arts.
The South Road venue has joined forces with Stort Pride to present two days of entertainment, inclusion, information and self-expression on Friday and Saturday August 19-20.
CYfer, who was the first drag king winner of the Drag Idol UK contest, will get the party started on the Friday night at South Mill Arts.
They have gone on to become a well-known performer on the UK cabaret scene and starred in West End comedy show Death Drop.
Expect strong adult humour as CYfer encourages conversations about gender binaries through their performance, which starts at 7.45pm (doors open 6pm).
The evening will continue with a spot of karaoke – join in and strut your stuff or just sit back and enjoy the fun.
On the Saturday is the free Pride Festival, supported by East Herts Council. It starts with the Walk of Solidarity from the bandstand at Sworder's Field at 10.30am and finishes at South Mill Arts with a day of events from 11.30am-5pm.
There will also be an opportunity to chat to community stall holders and take part in hip hop dance sessions, while, from midday, there will be live music in the bar from local musicians and singers.
Alongside the free gigs, stalls and entertainment, you can take a look around the Grey Lady tattoo art exhibition, join the team from the Little Arts Workshop for some crafts or take a selfie in the Fill Wool selfie booth.
Tickets to LoUis CYfer's show cost £5 while Saturday's festival entertainment is free. See www.southmillarts.co.uk for more details about the events and timings.
