Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra performing concert of film scores at Saffron Hall on Sunday February 16
Some of the most powerful and evocative music from the silver screen will be performed in a celebration of adventure, drama and heroism next month.
Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra will take the audience on a thrilling cinematic journey with a concert of iconic film scores at Saffron Hall on Sunday February 16 (3pm).
Under the baton of conductor Richard Hull, the orchestra will play some legendary scores, opening with Bruce Broughton’s exhilarating Silverado followed by John Williams’ dynamic The Lost World.
Romantic and dramatic themes take centre stage with Miklós Rózsa’s El Cid: Love Theme and Franz Waxman’s thrilling Taras Bulba: Ride of the Cossacks.
The eerie and atmospheric Nosferatu by Hans Erdmann adds a touch of the macabre before the swashbuckling excitement of Klaus Badelt’s Pirates of the Caribbean. The first half concludes with a pulse-pounding action cue from Alan Silvestri’s Captain America: Kruger Chase.
After the interval, the heroism continues with Williams’ triumphant Superman March, followed by Hans Zimmer’s haunting Chevaliers de Sangreal from The Da Vinci Code. Trevor Jones’ stirring Last of the Mohicans and Zimmer’s dark, brooding score for The Dark Knight add further dramatic intensity.
The concert also features Thomas Newman’s poignant The Shawshank Redemption and Zimmer’s epic music from Gladiator, bringing the programme to a powerful close.
It promises to be a spectacular afternoon of cinematic magic, with music that will transport audiences straight to the heart of their favourite films.
