Fireworks displays in Bishop's Stortford, Hatfield Broad Oak, Sawbridgeworth, Birchanger and Matching Green
Bonfire Night fireworks displays return this weekend after an enforced absence in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic – and there is a choice of venues in Bishop's Stortford and surrounding villages.
There are events on Friday evening (Nov 5) at Sawbridgeworth Town Football Club (fireworks at 6.30pm), Birchanger Sports and Social Club (fireworks at 7pm) and The Chequers at Matching Green (fireworks between 9pm and 9.30pm).
Meanwhile, on Saturday (Nov 6)...
With the Parsonage Residents Association's display on the Parsonage Lane playing field having been put back to the end of November to coincide with a Christmas fayre, all eyes and ears in Stortford will be focused on Silver Leys
The rugby club's 18th annual fireworks display, in conjunction with Essex Pyrotechnics and sponsored by Hanbury Wealth, takes place on Saturday (Nov 6). The gates open at 5pm and the sky will be alight at 7pm. The event concludes at 9pm.
Other attractions include live music, fully-stocked bar, barbecue and hot drinks and cake stall. For children, there will be a funfair and sweet shop.
Advance tickets are available online until 3pm on Saturday at www.bsrfctickets.co.uk. They cost £17.50 for a family of two adults and two children (aged 2-17), £6 for an additional adult or unaccompanied child and £4 for an additional accompanied child. Children under two are admitted free.
You can get in on the night by paying cash or contactless transaction, but prices rise to £20 for a family, £9 for an additional adult or unaccompanied child and £5 for an extra accompanied child. No readmittance, no sparklers and no dogs.
There is no on-site parking. The club asks people driving to the event to park considerately and not to obstruct Patmore Close, opposite Silver Leys, which is home to the fire and ambulance services.
