Fireworks displays in the Stortford, Stansted and Sawbo area 2019: All you need to know




This year, Bonfire Night falls on a Tuesday, so organised fireworks festivities are taking place on the two weekends either side.

Events in Bishop's Stortford culminate at the rugby club, but that's certainly not to say it's the only light show in town. Here is the Indie's round-up of local displays:

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2

Where: Parsonage Lane park, Bishop’s Stortford

When: Event starts 5.30pm, display from 6.30pm

Tickets: Free entry, but all donations will go towards next year's display

There will be a selection of food and drinks to buy on the evening if you have selected a standard ticket, along side complimentary hot drinks.

Where: Sawbridgeworth Town Football Club, Crofters End

When: Gates open 5.30pm, display starts 6.30pm

Tickets: £20 for family of four, £5 for individuals, free for under-2s

Tickets are available on the door only this year, with no advance tickets being sold.

Where: The Common, Saffron Walden

When: Event starts 5.30pm, display from 7pm

Tickets: Free entry, but donations to charity are encouraged

This visually spectacular free show, which is choreographed to a brilliant sound track mixed by 3D Events Productions, is organised by Saffron Walden Round Table.

Where: Recreation Ground, Great Dunmow CM6 2AD

When: Gates open 6.15pm, bonfire lit at 6.45pm, fireworks display begins at 7.15pm

Tickets: Adults £7 (£6.50), children under 16 £5 (£4.50), under-3s free, family of 2 adults and 2 children £20 (£18). Prices in brackets are for online purchases which are available until 11.59pm on Friday (Nov 1) at www.greatdunmowroundtable.co.uk/events/fireworks/. No online tickets can be bought on the day of the event.

Great Dunmow Round Table's annual display is set to be bigger and better this year. Enjoy an explosive night of fireworks to modern music and a massive bonfire. Following comments last year, the bar and barbecue have been improved.

Where: Forest Hall School, Stansted Mountfitchet

When: Gates open 6.30pm, display from 7.30pm

Tickets: £10 for a family of four, £4 for individual adults, £2 for children

Where: North Weald Airfield

When: Gates open 6pm, children's display 7pm, bonfire lit 7.30pm, main fireworks display 8.15pm

Tickets: £5 per adult and £3 per child if bought in advance online

A fireworks party run by Epping and Ongar Round Table in partnership with Epping Forest District Council and North Weald Airfield, featuring two fireworks displays, fairground and children’s attractions, food stalls and licensed bar, plenty of parking.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 3

Where: The Showground, Harlow Town Park

When: Event starts 6pm, display starts 7pm

Tickets: Free entry, but donations to charity are encouraged

Harlow Council’s annual free admission bonfire and fireworks night, organised alongside Great Parndon Community Association. There will be no funfair, but there will be a food and refreshments village, plus entertainment at The Playhouse stage.

Where: Down Hall Hotel and Spa, Hatfield Heath

When: Event starts 6.30pm, display from 7.30pm

Tickets: General admission sold out. Only remaining tickets include display & overnight stay for £125.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8

Where: Northgate Primary School, Cricketfield Lane, Bishop's Stortford

When: Gates open 5.30pm, display from 7pm

Tickets: £8 adults, £5 children, £2.50 under-5s

There will be fairground rides, a DJ, sizzling street food from The Secret Sausage Shop, drinks from The Belgian Brewer and The Bicycle Cafe.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 9

Where: Bishop's Stortford Rugby Football Club, Silver Leys, Hadham Road

When: Gates open 5pm, skies alight from 7pm

Tickets: £15 (£18) for family of four, £3 (£5) for accompanied or extra children, £5 (£8) for individual adults and unaccompanied children, under-2s free. Prices in brackets are for tickets bought at the gate on the night. Visit tickettailor.com to buy advance tickets until 10pm on Friday 8 November.

The rugby club's 17th annual fireworks display, sponsored by Hanbury Wealth, is in conjunction with award-winning Essex Pyrotechnics.

There will be fairground rides, live music, a barbecue and a bar selling hot drinks and alcohol.

No on-site parking, no sparklers, no dogs and no readmittance. The club will not be accepting £50 notes as means of payment as it was caught out last year.

You will be emailed your advance tickets upon purchase. Please take that e-mail with you on the night, either as a hard copy or on your phone, as the club will again be using a mobile scanning app to speed up the entry process.
