Castle Park in Bishop's Stortford to host Well-being Triathlon in person and online
A triathlon for the mind, body and soul returns to Castle Park in Bishop's Stortford on the first weekend in June – and participants have the option of taking part in the flesh or virtually.
The Well-being Triathlon will take place in Sworder's Field on Sunday June 6 from 11am to 1.30pm and kick off with a 5km run followed by a yoga class and meditation session. The fitness festival will also be live-streamed online from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Because of Covid-19, places are limited and a ballot system is in operation to ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part.
It has been organised once again by Friends of Castle Park's wellbeing and fitness champion Adriana Potts, of Adri Flow & Fitness, and Kate Macfarlane, of Coach Kate Running.
They are being supported by Jo Wilson, of Joga, and Samantha Gilmour from Yogaloco. Together they aim to welcome all levels of fitness.
Kate, who is a UK Athletics-qualified running coach, said: "I'm delighted to welcome people back to our Well-being Triathlon, with the exciting options of both a safe in-person event and a virtual event.
"I look forward to supporting you through your 5km run, whether you choose to run or walk, in our beautiful Castle Park or around your own virtual course."
Adriana, who is an advocate of mental and physical wellness, said: "This type of experience – uniting mind and body – is what communities need right now. We'll deliver a safe and enjoyable event where we can reconnect with the community and one another."
The event is in support of Bishop's Stortford charity Grove Cottage, the home of Mencap in London Road. There will be an opportunity to donate on the Friends of Castle Park Facebook page or on the day of the event.
To enter the free ballot, email committee@friendsofcastlepark.net by 1pm on Thursday (May 27). The tickets will be released by Friday (May 28).
Places are available for 16-year-olds and over. Attendees should take a yoga mat and water. Toilets are available in Jackson Square.
