Calling all former Bishop's Stortford Explorer Scouts
Bishop's Stortford Scouts are trying to reconnect with the around 200 former Explorer Scout troop members ahead of their 20th anniversary this September.
Plans are in place for a barbecue and camping overnight, with Priory Wood booked for the weekend of September 17-18.
Nigel Reed, who founded the unit with Chris Boughton in 2002, said: "Chris and I left Thorley Scouts and started Explorer Scouts nearly 20 years ago. Over those 20 years we’ve had over 200 young people through our unit. We're trying to get them together so we can say hello and catch up on what they’ve been doing since they left us."
Nigel, who is the treasurer for Bishop's Stortford Scouts, continued: "Of those 200 we only have email addresses for about 20 as back in 2002 we didn’t communicate by email. If you would like to join us please can you RSVP by August 8 to treasurer@bishopsstortfordscouts.org.uk."
Nigel added: "We have booked Priory Wood for the weekend of September 17-18 so Saturday afternoon and evening will be open for you to drop in and see us. There will be an opportunity to camp overnight if you want to bring your own tent. We are planning for our current Explorers to have a hammock camp at the back of the woods.
"Our plans are to have a barbecue on Saturday evening and there will be some refreshments, but if you would like to bring your own feel free.
"If you are still in contact with others you were in the unit with then please pass this invite on so we can get as many of our old Explorers to join us as we can."
