Budding actors needed! Try out for Harlow Playhouse's festive show Jack and the Beanstalk
For the first time in five years, Harlow Playhouse is holding an open audition for its Christmas pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.
Young people, aged eight to 16, are being invited to try out on Sunday, September 8 for their chance to be a part of 2019’s festive spectacle.
The team behind the show is looking for two teams of children who will perform alongside the professional actors at Harlow Playhouse from Friday, November 29 until Sunday, January 5.
The audition will be led by professional choreographer Claire Cassidy, who has recently been part of the creative team behind the UK and Ireland tour of Matilda The Musical.
Claire, who returns for her seventh year to choreograph the pantomime, said: “We are very excited to be opening the Playhouse doors to young theatrical talent this year.
“Working with West End performers and a live professional band, this is the perfect opportunity for young adults who have a passion to perform.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing all the talented youngsters in September.”
Rory Davies, artistic director of Harlow Playhouse, added: “We are very excited about the open audition. The audition will be fun and informal, allowing all young people to enjoy the experience of the audition and dance on the Harlow Playhouse stage.”
The September 8 audition will take place at Harlow’s Playhouse Square venue. Children aged eight to 11 can try out between 3pm and 4pm. Older kids aged 12 to 16 will get their opportunity between 4pm and 5pm.
Registration is required in advance of the audition and application packs can be found online. Visit www.harlowplayhouse.co.uk and click on ‘Get Involved’, then ‘Call-outs and Auditions’.
No previous acting experience is necessary, just the willingness to learn and have lots of fun.
