Henry Moore Studios & Gardens to host volunteer open morning

Henry Moore Studios & Gardens is hosting a volunteer open morning later this month.

The event on Wednesday October 25, from 10am to 12.30pm, is a unique opportunity for people with a passion for the arts and outdoors to find out how they can get involved at the former home and workplace in Perry Green, near Much Hadham, of world-famous sculptor Moore.

Potential volunteers are invited to join the Henry Moore team to learn more about the various opportunities available at Hoglands, his former home, including guiding tours, supporting educational programmes and assisting with the gardens.

There will be opportunities to explore the gardens and studios where Moore created his masterpieces and to meet the Studios & Gardens staff and current volunteers, who will provide valuable insights into the history, collections and ongoing projects.

There will be refreshments and a question and answer session about the volunteering experience, expectations and the impact volunteers can have: as well as connecting with like-minded individuals who share an enthusiasm for art and culture and becoming part of a vibrant community.

Annie Shrosbree, volunteer co-ordinator at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for anyone who has an interest in the arts or love for nature.

“The open event is a great way to find out more, ask questions and discover all the ways volunteering can enrich lives.

“Prior experience isn't necessary and volunteers will receive dedicated training and support. Henry Moore Studios & Gardens is a treasure trove of art and history.

“Whether someone is newly retired, a student seeking valuable work experience or simply has a few hours to spare, there are numerous ways for people to become part of our community."
