It’s Pinky party time as Miss Disco return to South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford two years after sell-out show

Following their sold-out show in 2022, Bishop’s Stortford favourites Miss Disco make their long-awaited return to South Mill Arts at the end of September.

The band’s electrifying on-stage journey through the decades of disco is a must-see event, a non-stop, life-affirming celebration of dance floor anthems by the genre’s biggest icons, including Chic, Sister Sledge, Chaka Khan, Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor and Earth Wind & Fire, alongside disco-inspired club classics from the Nineties, Noughties and beyond.

Miss Disco are fronted by powerhouse disco diva Susan Pinky, who, along with everybody else in the band, spent well over a decade performing as Uncle Funk & The Boogie Wonderband.

After parting company with Uncle Funk frontman Simon Baker in February 2020, the seven-piece band spent the following six months getting ready to relaunch as Miss Disco.

Their official live debut took place in August 2021 in front of 3,500 people at Saffron Walden’s annual event Dance In The Square, but they had to wait another year before they could make their eagerly anticipated return to Stortford.

Pinky said: “We spent many years building our reputation in Stortford as Uncle Funk & The Boogie Wonderband, so selling out South Mill Arts for our first show as Miss Disco made it pretty obvious everybody knew who they were coming to see. It was a watershed moment for us and we can’t wait to do it again.”

Over the years, the Miss Disco line-up has performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Standon Calling and the Heritage Live series at Audley End

Pinky will be joined on stage at South Mill Arts by long-time bandmates Marcus Tinkler (co-lead vocals & keys), DC1 (bass), Warren Terror (drums & vocals), Max Blohard (trumpet), Randy Blohard (saxophone) and Funkin’ Jack Flash (guitar & vocals).

Between them they have recording, performance and touring credits with some of music’s biggest stars, including Take That, Amy Winehouse, Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, The Jacksons, Beverley Knight, Jeff Beck, The Human League, Soul II Soul, Westlife, Dame Shirley Bassey and Dionne Warwick.

As ever, gig-goers are encouraged to dress to thrill. Pinky said: “We want everyone looking truly fabulous: maximum chic for maximum disco. Stortford, we’ll see you on the dance floor!”
