Artistic talents of Joyce Frankland Academy pupils on display at Cambridge’s Michaelhouse Café
Works by art students at Newport’s Joyce Frankland Academy are included in a Cambridge exhibition that celebrates the talents of schoolchildren in three counties.
The Platform 24 exhibition has been run every year since 2019 by the Anglian Learning multi-academy trust of 10 primary and six secondary schools in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex, including Joyce Frankland and Wimbish Primary School near Saffron Walden.
More than 30 pieces are on display at Michaelhouse Café in Trinity Street until Saturday November 23.
They cover a range of techniques and media, including painting, photography and textiles in traditional and abstract styles.
On November 11, a private viewing was held for pupils, their families and members of the trust to mark the exhibition’s official opening.
The other schools taking part are Bassingbourn, Bottisham, Linton and Sawston village colleges and The Netherhall School in Cambridge.
Lesley Morgan, arts development manager at Anglian Learning, said: “Alongside empowering our pupils by having their artwork publicly exhibited, Platform 24 provides an important opportunity for colleagues across our schools to collaborate, discuss best practices and enhance their delivery of creative subjects.”
Jonathan Culpin, CEO of Anglian Learning, added: “The diverse and expressive artwork on display speaks volumes about the creativity and passion within our schools.
“As a trust which focuses on creating a sense of belonging and aspiration, I am pleased to see so many pupils keen to exhibit their artwork and proudly represent their school.”
