The Big Brick Build with LEGO at Audley End House and Gardens from April 6 to 14
Children can help recreate an historic part of Audley End House and Gardens this school Easter holiday by taking part in an egg-citing LEGO building activity at the stately home near Saffron Walden.
The Big Brick Build runs from Saturday April 6 to Sunday April 14 and is open to youngsters age four upwards.
They can contribute to building a LEGO version of the estate’s favourite visitor attraction – its stable block.
A spokeswoman for English Heritage said: “Set up near the famous stables, the Big Brick Build will invite children to put together small sections which will then be assembled by our resident brick artists to create a stunning replica of the stables building. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will be included in the standard admission ticket.”
The stables at Audley End reflect the important part horses have played in the property’s history. The families who lived there relied on them for transport and leisure pursuits.
Today, four horses live in the stables and are looked after by a dedicated team of staff.
Josh Rhodes, assistant event manager at English Heritage, said: “We’re so excited for the Big Brick Build because it’s the first time Audley End has been constructed in LEGO on site.”
And that’s not all that’s on offer at Audley End over the school Easter holidays to keep the kids entertained. Every day until Sunday April 14, they can embark on a fun Easter Adventure Quest.
Each child receives a booklet which will take them on a hunt around the grounds, uncovering clues to the fascinating history of Easter traditions as they go. On completing the challenge they get a chocolate reward.
It costs £2 to take part, for both English Heritage members and non-members, on top of the normal ticket price. There is no need to book, just turn up.
