Dunmow Art Group hosting talk on English painter John Piper at Foakes Hall on Wednesday January 15
A talk about a 20th-century English painter, printmaker and stained glass artist will take place in Great Dunmow on Wednesday January 15.
The presentation, entitled ‘My Journey with John Piper: A personal glimpse at a 20th-century British artist – A Modern Romantic’, will be given by Pauline Hockley at Foakes Hall (7.30pm).
The talk, hosted by Dunmow Art Group, replaces the one due to be given on the Bardfield artists by Janet Dyson, who has had to postpone due to illness.
“I first came across John Piper in 1967 and have been interested in his work ever since,” said Hockley.
“I rashly volunteered to put a talk together for New Arts Harlow last year, which I delivered in November.
“The research was most enjoyable, but, because he was such a prolific artist, it was difficult to know how to structure the talk, hence the personal aspect.
“I am no expert on art or art history, but enjoy the many courses and talks that I have attended over the years and from which I have gained much pleasure.”
Entry costs £1 for Dunmow Art Group members and £5 for non-members.
