Night of music at Fairycroft House in Saffron Walden to pay tribute to much-loved and versatile guitarist Bill Glass
An evening of live music will be staged to pay tribute to Bill Glass, one of the area’s most versatile and most loved guitarists.
Friends and fellow musicians will come together at Fairycroft House in Saffron Walden on Saturday November 15 to celebrate Bill’s “extraordinary” contribution to music and community.
Bill, who was living in Sawbridgeworth when he died earlier this year, was a talented, self-taught musician whose career spanned decades and inspired countless performers across Essex and Hertfordshire.
A founding member of local favourites including White Glass, 3 Blocks West, Between The Lines and The Soul Traders, Bill was renowned for his rhythm, warmth and generosity in helping others grow as musicians.
He was also a central figure at Fairycroft House’s monthly Jam Nights, where his humour, talent and collaborative spirit were said to have “left an indelible mark on the local music scene”.
The evening will break into three sections: the first being a band of the regular jammers from Fairycroft that will have known Bill, and the second also a band made up of the particular people there that he played with the most, plus a few special guests.
The evening will round off with an hour or so from Between the Lines as was, with Richard Holgarth from Eddie and the Hot Rods stepping in to fill Bill’s shoes.
The tribute event will raise funds for the Foundation for Liver Research, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to liver research, based at the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies. The foundation’s scientists are leading work into new ways to help the liver regenerate itself, develop immunotherapies for liver cancer and expand access to lifesaving transplants.
Tickets are available now through Eventbrite, with doors opening at 7pm and the bar open throughout the evening. Limited free parking is available on site.
Donations can also be made directly at www.justgiving.com/page/billglass.
