Audley End House and Gardens: Making history this February half term
English Heritage is inviting families to make history over February half term by joining characters from the past at Audley End House and Gardens.
The Jacobean estate near Saffron Walden is one of several EH properties across the country laying on activities and performances ranging from archaeological digs to Victorian storytelling from Saturday February 11 to Sunday February 19.
Audley End will stage 'Victorians' Worst Jobs'. "Think of this as a careers fair with a difference... From chimney sweeps to ‘pure’ collectors and matchstick makers to porcelain glazers, travel back in time to find out more about the vilest of Victorian jobs," said a spokesman for EH.
Josh Rhodes, assistant events manager for English Heritage, added: “Our hands-on history events are the perfect activities to get the family discovering the secrets of their local historic site this February half term.
"From Victorian storytelling to seeing if you’ve got what it takes to be an archaeologist, there's something for everyone to enjoy.”
