Ocean Colour Scene to headline Saturday night at Sign of the Times Festival in Little Hadham

Britpop legends Ocean Colour Scene will top the bill at Sign of the Times on Saturday night, completing the three-day festival’s headline announcements.

The Birmingham band, formed in 1989, have added Church End in Little Hadham to their 2025 tour as they review a career including five top 10 albums, 17 top 40 singles and six top 10 tracks to date.

Best known for their long players Moseley Shoals in 1996, Marchin’ Already in 1997 and One From The Modern in 1999, their biggest hit was The Riverboat Song.

Singer Simon Fowler said a career highlight came in 2018 when they took Martha Reeves and The Vandellas on tour.

He said: “We couldn’t quite believe that Martha Reeves was supporting us, it seemed absurd. But our crowd loved it, she went down really well.”

Sign of the Times organisers said: “We are delighted to have such a legendary name headline Sign of The Times on Saturday June 21.

“In a year which is huge for Britpop, to have Ocean Colour Scene join us is a real coup and we can’t wait for the weekend to be here!”

10cc will headline the first day of the festival, on Friday June 20, and Embrace will close it on Sunday June 22.

They join Haircut One Hundred, Ultravox singer, Band Aid legend and solo star Midge Ure and Paul Young, who is appearing with Los Pacaminos, a Tex-Mex band he formed in 1992.

More names are to be announced for the bill, which already includes The Sugarhill Gang and The Furious 5, Roachford, Elvana, Newton Faulkner, Ferocious Dog, GUN, Hugh Cornwell, The Blockheads, Skinny Lister, When Rivers Meet, The Commoners, Kissmet, Xander and The Peace Pirates, Groovetrain, The Pistol Daisys and The Jacques.
