Once Upon a Time, West End Magic and Pop Party at South Mill Arts in Bishop’s Stortford this summer
Families are invited to go on a madcap journey of music, dance and audience participation with beloved fairytale characters at South Mill Arts this summer.
Join the magical storykeepers for an exciting adventure through a fantasy realm when Once Upon a Time comes to the Bishop’s Stortford venue next month.
The show, which is on six times from Thursday August 8 to Sunday August 11, stars David Ribi from kids’ TV programme Milkshake!
Follow the storykeepers as they hurtle through the pages to save the world’s favourite stories and meet the likes of Aladdin, Snow White, Red Riding Hood and many more.
The production has been created by the company behind South Mill Arts pantomimes Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella, which delighted audiences at the South Road complex in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
The summer family fun gets under way on Thursday July 25 with The Extraordinary Time: Travelling Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
The multi award-winning, improvised storytelling show features pirates and princesses, unicorns and dragons, spacemen and swordfights, and all of it completely and irrefutably true.
Prepare to be amazed when London’s longest-running magic show rolls into town on Saturday July 27.
West End Magic is an exciting, family-friendly show serving up a mixture of magic, comedy and variety acts, featuring British Champion of Magic Oliver Tabor, magical compere Wayne Trice and special guest acts.
If you are interested in technical theatre, South Mill Arts’ week-long theatre workshop is for you.
Running from Monday July 29 to Friday August 2, it will give you the chance to learn all the basics of technical production, culminating in a live event on the Friday where you will be the technical support for the day.
Herts Inclusive Theatre is running a bespoke workshop aimed at children and teenagers aged 10-16 with additional learning needs on Wednesday August 7.
It will include drama games, creative activities and more.
Get ready for a dazzling explosion of music, dance and excitement when the stars of Pop Party perform your favourite hits live on Saturday August 31.
The concert, produced especially for kids, features tunes by the likes of Little Mix, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Meghan Trainor, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran and many more.
Don’t forget about South Mill Arts’ Storytime sessions, which take place on the first Tuesday of the month.
Can Wibbly Pig find Pigley? is the story on Tuesday August 6. The session is free to join and little ones can enjoy some colouring and craft too.
There is also an opportunity to catch films IF (Saturday August 17) and Inside Out 2 (Saturday August 24) on the big screen.
And Bishop’s Stortford Museum is the place to go for crafting sessions with themes of Glove Puppets (July 30-August 1) and Marionettes (August 6-8). Drop in anytime between 10am and 2pm.
