LEARN MORESome of the most instantly recognisable music from the silver screen will be performed by Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra in its next concert.
A feast of film favourites will be featured when the musicians present ‘The Good, The Bad and The Epic’ at Saffron Hall on Sunday, February 9.
With a focus on some of film’s best-known heroes and villains, the programme will include scores by Hollywood’s greatest composers as well as introduce the audience to lesser-known classics.
On the 'Good' side, there will be such memorable heroes as Superman and Spiderman. The 'Bad' will feature Norman Bates from Psycho and everyone’s favourite bad boy, Bart Simpson. Some of the other characters will divide opinion, such as Conan the Barbarian, Darth Maul and Harry Lime.
The concert, which starts at 3pm, has been built around epic spaghetti western The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and will feature music from throughout the movie, including its iconic main theme and the nail-biting Trio shootout music from the end.
SWSO, conducted by Richard Hull and led by Sarah Hall, will play music by composers who have not been represented in its previous concerts, including Basil Poledouris, Bernard Hermann and Carter Burwell.
A spokesperson said: "We cover films set everywhere, from post-war Vienna, spooky motels, the snowy landscape of North Dakota to the great Metropolis and into outer space! There’ll be something for everyone, young and old."
