Hazel Adlam is the featured artist in the latest in our series of galleries highlighting the talents of Bishop's Stortford Art Society members...

I have enjoyed art and craft for as long as I can remember and have painted on commission for over 30 years.

It is a passion that led me to starting my own business as a professional artist in 2014. I now work from my studio in Leaden Roding. You can view my website at www.artshed.co.uk.

After graduating from Kent University in the late 1980s, my early career was teaching GCSE art and design. I also sat on the NE Kent examination board, followed by primary education where, besides teaching, I worked as an art co-ordinator running a variety of art and craft clubs for the children.

I regularly sell work at art and craft fairs, retail outlets and art exhibitions. I love to experiment with different styles, mediums and materials, from traditional paintings to abstract expressionism, small sculptural pieces, silk art and graphic design to name but
a few.

I paint on commission in oils, watercolours, pastels and pencil, and do anything from pet portraits and landscapes to aviation, vehicle art and, more recently, book illustration. I am always busy!

I am a member of Leaden Roding Art Group and Bishop's Stortford Art Society, and it was here I was awarded the Cooper Landscape Cup and the Portrait Cup.
